ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK

DISCOVERY:
This is the first film I saw based upon my enjoyment of John Carpenter and Dan O'Bannon's debut film, DARK STAR.

PLOT:
John Carpenter would have us believe that New York City (Manhattan) has been turned into one big penal colony in the year 1997. Convict, Snake Plissken's  mission is to rescue the president of the U.S., played by Donald Pleasence. His plane was shot down in Manhattan and he's being held hostage by the inmates. US government agents implant a pair of explosive devises in the neck of the carefully selected, convicted bank robber and told he is has 48 hours to retrieve the president and the cassette tape or die.

CINEMATIC SIMILARITIES:
The Sequel, Escape from L.A.

 OVER-ALL ANALYSIS:
Very suspenseful. An all star cast. I got the impression that these actors chose to perform in this one for the sheer fun of it, and had great fun playing the parts, thus making it a fun film to watch.

FINALE:
I won't give it away.
