HOUSE OF GAMES

DISCOVERY:
I saw this one in the local art theater because the screenplay is by David Mamet

OPENING SCENE:
A compulsive gambler with suicidal tendancies shows up at Dr.Ford's office seeking help.

 PLOT:
A pop psychologist has just published her first best-seller. But something in her life is lacking. A patient leads her to confidence man/book-maker, Mike. She is fascinated by Mike's smooth talk and manner. She decides to make a study of Mike's profession as a con. Mike lets her tag along. Watch Mike ply the tools of her trade as she gets sucked into his con.

CINEMATIC SIMILARITIES:
Similar to many later David Mamet films. Especially Things Change, and Homicide

A DETAIL:
Pay attention to the first scene and last.
