"It's not about the virus...
it's about obedience."

(Bruce Willis)

PLOT
A man decides to wipe out the populace of the planet. Is director Terry Gilliam saying nukes aren't the only way we can annihilate ourselves? Beware! Don't forget about germ warfare. Labs creating viruses against which we have no immunity.

"Maybe it's time to give mother nature a rest."

Let the animals repopulate the world. Is this a tragedy?

He died in the terminal. He was terminated there. He was a time traveler from the future. Airplanes are space travelers. Time savers.

He witnessed his own death, unwittingly.

He tried to help scientists learn about the virus that wiped out 5 billion people, that forced them all to live underground. Scientists created the virus. Scientists who lived above the ground. Scientists who traveled in space machines.

A very wealthy man financed the lab that created the virus. His son was insane.

The movie is a warning. An alarum. People are apathetic. They are not interested in taking a stand against germ warfare. Could they stop it if they wanted to?

We have climbed down out of the trees, and no longer use stones, But have we advanced much beyond the stones? Aborigines would start fire in the bush. The winds would shift this way and that. Often they were overcome by he fire. They could not outrun it. Or else they were enveloped by it. Trapped. Many were burned to death. They may have set the fires to scare the animals out of the bush. But committed accidental genocide. Survival. Intelligence. Evolution. Biology.
